just a query really as i am not sure

does the weather when it gets hot and sticky or even just hot affect ambient temps?

I suppose it does really, but just checking..

is it worth getting one of the thermometers that you can just point to and it gives you a reading?

only asking cos it is going to get quite warm later this week..and i dont want to cook my royals...

It will affect it, but as long as the bulbs are on stats it shouldnt matter.

I have a cheap temp gun thingy and its great, but it measures surface tempertures not ambient.

so if the temp was reading say 31 and cool end was 28 would the outside temps with it being warmer affect the general air temps?

Yes, but depending on where the stat probe is, it should reduce power to the heater.
