had a brief read of tht..do u think they even consider what the animal would be doing in the wild... i mean come on simple example..... can you really see a big fat rat /squirrel whatever trottin up to a royal prizin its mouth open sticking his head in shouting EEAAATTT MEEE..surely in wild it would be as nature intended.. eat when its ready unless something physically wrong.. |

royals do have fasts...
but sometimes it is not a fast.
They stop feeding for whatever reason, and i think after a while they could possibly get to the point of having no appetite at all...and then it become a battle of wills..
i think if this happened to me i would try a couple of live feeds to get them going...it might not work, but it also might..
but like when you stop eating after a while the hunger goes away ..well it does with me anyways...so maybe that happens to..
but i could be barking totally up the wrong tree..lol.. |

so what sort of amount of time not eating should you start to be concerned i know about the physical deterioration then yeah force feed might be warranted. |

when they are ill or losing weight...
fasting does not tend to lose to much weight from what i have read and seen posted..
a force feed should not be on the menu at all...
dont get confused between force and assist..
i would assist if i had to, but it would have to be that all other options had been exhausted first..
i would NEVER force feed.. |

He did claim to be joking about the veg oil, but in my opinion force feeding is what you resort to when the snake will die if you don't. I certainly wouldn't have even considered it in the first week! |

and for force feeding goes i agree with wolf it shouldnt be done there is alot more you can do to tempt a sanke to eat before you force feed and then if all the other stuff dont work and the snake still wont eat then its clear the snake aint well and needs to see a vet and then let them do what they are trained to do which is force feeding etc yeah it might mean a big vet bill but what would he rather have a vet bill or a dead snake?? i know what id pick and thats the vet bill its only money at the end of the day and the snake is a life |
