ADMIN - Moved from introductions

oh yeh... i am getting a new addition this week as the missus says i can

now..... help me choose with good ideas

first choice is a rainbow boa (probably too much money tho, might have to wait till next year)

the major toss up is between an albino milksnake and a hognose

milksnake attraction - bootifull snake, love the markings of red band /white , and seem to be livelier than royals (and already have stardust :)

hognose - a bit ugly but i love the habits (fake death , cobra like wings when agitated etc)

or do i get another royal - that is simply the most gorgeous breed ever for me

how much-ish are rainbow boas ?????? thats what i would really like...

aiming to get one sunday if availability is there

Dumerils are hugely under-rated you know they're really nice snakes but are likely to grow to around the 6' mark.
from what i've read on thehognosesnake.co.uk they don't show their party tricks much, if at all!

Dumerils boas, BCO hybrids, Sinder Hypo boas, cornsnakes, ratsnakes, Day Geckos

is it true that you need to keep humidity right up for RB's ?
i go to afghanistan in february for a few months which means my missus is gonna have to look after it (don't worry she is a good keeper and can feed too :)

if so... hognose is looking good , but as i have the room i can go up 6-7ft snakes so hmmm

i like kingsnakes too AGGGHHH! i cant choose

if i really had some cash it would be a piebald ... but they are like £1500 starter

BTW 6954 score...and eat my own tail lol

cali king? i've been told the mountain calis are more placid than some other versions (like mex blacks!) and they come in pretty colours, pretty straight forward husbandry.....

Typically ~80% for youngsters which can be dropped down to 65-70% when older.

wow dan ... thats an impressive array of reps you have m8.... gonna take a detailed look at your vids tommorow

what are your reasons for saying go for a normal milk.... you have me intrigued

(normal milks do look fantastic - what are they like habitually - i mean like active/docile fussy eaters etc)

one and a half days to go :) ...getting excited!

I agree with Dan- get a milk snake.

I say this because I have a hoggy, two kings (nearly a milk ) and a rainbow boa and I think you would get most pleasure out of a milk.

I love my hoggy, but GP is right, they don't do their party tricks very often, so if you don't like the look of one you might get bored.

I love my Rainbow Boa, but it's hard work keeping the humidity up and they are quite expensive to buy.

At least a milk snake would be active a lot, easy to care for like a corn, grow big enough to be fun to handle and come in some amazing colours.

Thank you all for your help.... Kazerella , you helped make my mind up :)

now the proud owner of an ALBINO NELSON MILK SNAKE early 08 CB (to be sexed in a couple of months)
bought from emsworth reptile and aquatic centre in portsmouth :) Price £125

white and red banded with thin yellow bands in the white sections , curently shedding, but have seen her now in the shop for 3-4 weeks and if i am honest she was the reason for being interested in milksnakes to begin

incredibly fast mind... boy she can move quick - gonna have to be careful cos i can see her bolting off
currently keeping her in a perspex raising tank and will move her to larger premisis in 5-6 months

so now i am off to join the kingsnake/milksnake forum too :) will post photos once she has shed (she is BEAUTIFUL)
