i'm getting a royal python in a few weeks, done my research but still have in the back of my mind, my 3 kids, there 8,5 and 1 but does that make any difference to how the snake will be with them, obviously the kids wont beleft alone when ses out but its just for my peace of mind really.

My 2 and 4 year olds hold all my snakes.

Yep. Same here. I've got five kids ranging in age from 2 to 17 and they all have a hold.

I should have said to beware of the Salmonella that snakes carry and always use anti-bacterial cleaner after handling, especially with children. I use that gel stuff that you don't need water for.

Is that stuff any good? I wasn't sure what it would do to my kids' skin. Is it the alcohol based one?

Yes, that's the stuff. Their skin doesn't seem to be affected and also its more fun than 'Go and wash in the sink' so they don't mind/moan about doing it.

Be's right,they say that children under 5 are more at risk but if the hygene is good then there no risk,i use the alcohol one,like the one's you find in hosital,next time you go to a+e you can pick one up for free (only joking).

I use anti-bac gel too, it makes it easier and quick (lee you clearly nicked some when you had your op! )
