Can an 100w infra red bulb be run off a normal stat or does it need to be on a dimmer?
If its a dimmer has anyone got one they are selling? |

Bulbs that emit light need to be on a dimmer. If run on a normal (mat) stat, it will just be on..off..on..off |

They say that about UV tubes, I have never heard it about infrared, just that the bulbs go on/off and then blow quickly. |

There was a guy called eco-tonto on the dark side selling some habistat 600w dimmers for like £27.50 but I'm not sure if he still has any. |

I believe that it appears to be like dusk to them, they struggle to see it but there is some light there. |

ok, thanks Daz and 'BE.
What about belly heat without a mat on this type of mat?
Daz did you sort out the heat transfer between vivs?
- want to put this viv above Peanut but am worried about heat transfer. |

I usually have a flat rock or slate under the bulb that warms up nicely, but I don't think its imperative to have belly heat. |

I have my large ET hide directly underneath my ceramic that i use as a basking spot, its quite flat and large so it is ok.
The heat transfer is not affecting my royals. Still there but i will not let it beat me... |
