how many more problems will i have with these things...the heat transfer is an on going saga that just wont seem to end...

thinking of selling the lot and buying lamps!!!

dont let it put you off MC...its cos im using them in a viv stack...to much heat going to the viv above...

What temps are the viv floors above? (I take it thats the problem again)

Cat, It will be fine as long as you have the viv with the ceramic on the top.

its still 30+...

need to have a think...must be a way round this...need to think...only posted it to help me think...

might just have to have a re-jig about with my stat probes...maybe swap the order of snakes homes and put the corn in the middle...

will need new stats and everything...

just cant get it right...noticed the temp on the middle viv on the floor was 40*C earlier. the temp in the same viv on the roof of her hide was 32*C.

ok i think i may have sorted it now for good...(touch wood)

I now have the ceramics in the top and bottom and nothing in the middle...
so the order goes..,

Hope (royal)-top
Chester (corn)-middle
Lily (royal)-bottom

They're scrapping the space shuttles soon. Maybe you could salvage some of the tiles from the bottom of one of them. If it's good enough for NASA.....

Looking at it I take it that the sections are all fixed in place with any way of seperating the individual enclosures?

Could you put a vent on each face of each viv above the height of the ceramic so you get airflow above the ceramic? Would there be enough height in each section to put a false ceiling in each viv below the vents? Something like 6mm mdf. Any heat that is not going down into the viv would get carried out of the vents.

Just trying to think of a way of getting the airgap. Where the metal braces are between the vivs on my stack it's just fresh air which seems to provide the buffer.

TBH ive tried eveything and nothing seems to work...really not happy with it.

will end up converting it in to racking...
