Just to clear things up they are mites. They eat mould, poo, rotten food etc.Love high humidity, and are attracted to warm places.
I don't know how you keep your vivs,So there either wood mites ( which eat wood )or mould mites.Without a pic,i won't beable to tell you.
Would have been in the wood,or in with your substrate. You will get thousands of them with livefood,if you never clean the tubs out.
They are harmless, but can expand if left. You really shouldn't have to much bother with them in your viv.Id soak the wooden hide and clean it well.

They look like the wood mites, I'll change out the bark and give it a good clean. Is there any other substrate I can use so I won't get these |

I breed livefood and I am plagued by these every now and again. There is one very easy way to kill them, clean everything out, hoover all surfaces around and keep everything but the water bowl bone dry. You will find any remaining mites will end up all over the water bowl but clean in morning and night and they will soon be gone. They are visually a nuisance but actually they do a good job of cleaning up all the mould and muck in an environment, I try not to kill off them all as it helps keep my livefood clean between cleans. |

They shouldn't breed or spread inside a clean viv.You will only ever get the odd few, hiding in the wooden hide etc.

Yep there super easy to get rid of.But they really will spread like hell,if you don't hoover/clean the areas at all. |
