hi there,

Well i finally met up with Karl today to collect the little royal from him that he was handed in the pub last week, by a bloke who took the little guy out of his pocket and said 'you like snakes dont you...here you go i cant get him to eat'...

So we think... he is a poss june 08, and was kept in a viv with a light as a heat source that was turned on in the morning and turn off at nite. no stat. He had no water bowl and used to get the viv misted as a source of water for him.

He weighs in at 111g and is just going into shed thats why he looks a lttle wrinkley, but here is afew pics i took while weighing him, checking him out and sorting his RUB...

With a lighter for size comparison...

I cant see you... so you cant see me

my new home...

Just makes you wonder how many snakes are out there in TOTALLY the wrong setups?

I know the kid that used to own him (as well as you know anyone that drinks regularly in the same pub as you) and he doesn't seem thick or a nasty bloke, just poorly informed. He must know he was in the wrong as he hasn't said a word since he "deposited" him in my hand....

Anyone else heard of a 12 hr on, 12 hr off lightbulb senario? I know it used to happen years ago, but not nowadays?

I agree with karl, I think the majority of the problems lie with the shops that sell the animal. you are only as good as the advice your given and from place to place it differs.

I have found out by owning snakes that the advice i was given was very basic and was not told about alot of aspects. only really found out about stats and other stuff through forums like this one.

Oh and i nearly forgot to say that i woke up this morning to find his RUB trashed and a very shiny little fella in the hide.

He had a ok shed, came off in afew pieces and only a few mm was left on his tail right at the tip which he let me remove while i had him out to sort out the mess...
