Looking at how you are now with all of your snakes (even the mighty Pilkington)its hard to see that once you spent 45 mins getting the courage to handle something so small hehe & then to handling hots (with such great skill and confidence)in such a small space of time. I wish I had been there from the beginning to see your journey. Definitely an achievement you should be proud of. Off to a great start already I think you've found your calling :)
Thanks Honey ^^ You only missed the tip of the iceberg, still got a cobra to go and that'll be lots of fun! Besides, we're still getting a gator right? ;)

Brilliant read kiddo, and a great way to get over the depression fits. Keep enjoying your snakes and good things WILL happen, believe me. These creatures have magical abilitites that work on our souls as well as our minds. Well done!
Thanks Tiggy, It's amazing the effect they can have on us. But honestly without TRP and all the great people here I don't know how I'd have survived those first two years!

I enjoyed reading that. I remember reading about your experiences in the past but was nice to read it in one place as it happened
Yeah it's a shame that more of the old members aren't around anymore :( |

That is one amazing post Kelfezond! Thanks for sharing the last two years of your life with us! You've certainly dealt with situations that long term keepers may never have. And you've dealt with them well!
As for Depression, Anxiety etc... I'm sadly far more familiar with those particular beasts! I'm not sure you get over their effects 100% but things do get easier. Distraction and focus work well and what better distraction than beautiful snakes to care for?!
You've inspired me with your story about Pandora. I've always wanted a 'proper' Boa LOL (not that I don't love my BRB and Honduran)! Now how to persuade Hubby that I can deal with a full grown common BCI? He says I'm too small to manage one (I'm a vertically challenged 5' tall). I recently saw a full grown albino female Burm that I'd love but I know that would be out of the question haha!

Just read the post what an incredible journey in such a short space of time. Bet it would shut all the reptile haters up out there if they seen all the good they can do. I think you should start writing an autobiography kelf I'd read it. |

Haha I've not experienced enough to write something like that, before I got my snakes my life consisted of waking up, eating breakfast at my PC, playing video games all day then sleeping and repeating, the first 23 years of my biography would suck ^^ |
