Hello boys and girls, Thanks for reading Kelfezond's Sunday Interview again, today we're talking to our admin Gmac. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us, G.
Graeme MacIntosh no worries,
Stephen Crockford So G, you've been here on TRP longer than most of us, you've seen people come and go, and probably read thousands and thousands of threads from basic questions to panicked emergencies. Is there any specific topics that have stuck in your head over the years?
Graeme MacIntosh not really no, have read pretty much every thread on TRP forever, do get a we grin when you see panicky new owners when their new snakes havent eaten for a few weeks. Easy threads to answer. You can almost hear every time the breathing sigh of relief when they discover its not a worry
Stephen Crockford True enough, seems we answer one of those every other day Unlike most other reptile forums TRP seems to have a great community atmosphere, pretty much everyone on it gets involved and we only rarely have any drama, is this down to hard work by the staff team or are we just fantastic people? ^^
Graeme MacIntosh we are fantastic people, the forum team are very rarely involved and tend not to get involved too much, which is a good thing. well from my point of view the forum is oly as good as those that use it
Stephen Crockford True Okay let's move away from the forum for a bit and talk about your experiences with reptiles, how long ago was it when you first got your first reptile experience?
Graeme MacIntosh was somewhere about 20 ish years ago, my kid brother got his first snake a corn. It scared the hell out of me. he then added mexican black kings columbian rainbow boas and white lipped pythons. all bar the corn i was fine with the corn hid a lot waiting to eat me. He built his own vivs back then also and moved them into my room for a few weeks. Every night without fail the dam corn was out to getme.
Stephen Crockford Lol a corn? But now you have dozens of corns, right?
Graeme MacIntosh aye a few they grew on me
Stephen Crockford Good, so how long was it until you got your first?
Graeme MacIntosh not all that long ago really 5 years ish, we had thought about it a long time ago but with the girls being so young decided a dog was the way to go
Stephen Crockford And all your family pitch in with cleaning and looking after the reptiles now? Do they all have specific favourites or do you all share?
Graeme MacIntosh we all have our own snakes, although they tend to claim all of mine. the kids are great on feeding cleaning watering times. although helping me and the wife means they get attached and get the we will keep this one too lol. Ange has her fave being the boa and her black ratsnake. The kids have their own snakes so they are their faves. I dont have a fave (the boa)
Stephen Crockford Lol that's great, explains how you get through feeding times so quickly. Good reason to have kids I say Graeme MacIntosh also cheaper than hiring folks
Stephen Crockford I know you breed the corns but is there anything else you are breeding at the moment?
Graeme MacIntosh we did breed the beardies last year, not this year though. The royals will be bred probably this year (next season) and the black rat snakes will be bred, being het white sided and leucistic shold be fun time
Stephen Crockford Sounds like it's going to be good! Do you plan on buying anymore additions to your little zoo or are you just breeding now?
Graeme MacIntosh we will be adding to the corn collection with a few more, other than that we add when we feel like it. is never really planned. Unless its something species wise we dont have then we will look into the for a while before buying anything
Stephen Crockford Sounds like a good way to go about it, so apart from the reptiles do you have any other interests or hobbies?
Graeme MacIntosh you reckon i have the time . interest wise i used to play golf to a high hacker level. but with all the beasts here and the family just faffing about does it for me. Also seriously bad CGI graphic movies are a cracking past time to have
Stephen Crockford Sounds interesting, I play golf myself ^^ Well Gmac, is there anything else you'd like to add before we wrap up?
Graeme MacIntosh is a fun sport as no matter how bad things get here, my golf is always worse (stolen from someone i cant mind)
Stephen Crockford Well Gmac, is there anything else you'd like to add before we wrap up?
Graeme MacIntosh while i don't post much on the royal forum and i do slate the royal pythons a lot, usually about their laziness and feeding, doesn't mean i don't like them, I do or we wouldn't have any here. Don't take all my comments about them seriously. Also don't take anything by my lack of responses on the site as me not being there, if its a one answer response Im one for not repeating what others have said so don't see any benefit of my reply. Also I may have a red star below my name doesn't mean my opinion is the right one, or the wrong one for that matter. In reptile keeping there is no one way does all style its what fits each snake and owner so everyones opinion should be respected. I reckon its that theres no one way to do things approach is why i do like reptile keeping.
Stephen Crockford Brilliantly said, something to be quoted all over the reptile community I think. That's Gmac! Thanks for joining us friends, hopefully you all enjoyed this interview! and I'm sure Gmac will be happy to answer any questions you might have!
Graeme MacIntosh no worries, just dont call me at 2:30am to do this again |
