When my son comes back from Afghanistan he will be taking Boris back to his base with him :( So, I will hopefully get a new baby! My question is, can a little one go into a viv if it has shed loads of stuff in it?

yes you can put a young one into a nice packed out 2 or 3ft viv as long as it eats fine i personally wouldnt put a hatchling in there though or you could put it in a small rub then put this in the viv and use the heat source you already have

you might struggle to get correct temps with a rub in a viv with using a heat bulb, i tried it this way b4 i bought my latest royal and couldnt get the temps right so i put a heat mat in the viv with the rub on top and plugged it in to the stat the bulb was running off and temps are fine

Ive already got a heat mat from when Sas was younger so thats ok. I think what Im really hoping is that my son decides to leave Boris with me. I just dont think he will have time etc to care for him, especially when it's shed time. He has become used to coming out every day too.

Now that's a plan lol. I do however like the idea of a baby one too! Basically I want both!

Penelope's been in a 3ft viv since I got her in May. She was around 4 months old-ish at a guess and was 130g when I got her.

She's got three hides, and they're all covered in plastic plants, so she chooses to either go in the hides, or hide behind any one of the hides and lie underneath the plants, so she's got masses of places to go for shelter, warm and not so warm. There's a pic of her viv on this thread: http://www.theroyalpython.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10415 - one hide at each end and another in the middle, hidden under the greenery.

It took a short while for her to settle in, and feeding was on and off for a while, but nothing to overly worry about (apart from the time I posted on here completely freaking out as she was trying to take a mouse bum first and ended up spitting it as it was going in sideways, that caused a panic!). She's around 300g now and eating jumbo mice every five days and the weight seems to be piling on so she's definitely settled now.

I like Chris's plan of putting the viv lock on and giving your son £20
