hello and welcome!!!
quick bit of advice that worked for my mrs regarding nervs around your snake.
My mrs was very nervy at first and my pastel went for her (well it was a bluff), the reason this happened is because she, without realising it, was provoking her by not being confident and just getting in there to pick her up.
To cure this I made her wear my mountain biking glove to get her out of the RUB she was in.
After about a week of this she got bored of using the glove and now handles all my snakes from the babies around 100g to my largest male who is over 1kg.
Might help with your confidence.

Hello, and welcome to the site.
When your first going in to pick up up, or take the hide off, make sure he's aware your there. They can go into shut down mode and if you suddenly pounce on them you can catch them unawares and elicit a defensive strike. If ours are in their hide I usually tap on it a couple of times before slowly lifting it off and if their out of the hide I pause after opening the viv to allow the snake to "wake" and get my scent. Others may disagree, but it works for me. It also gives me a chance to judge the snakes body language.

Hi and welcome
Build up slowly to handling your snake, let it get to know you and you to know it. There's no rush
One of the best tips I heard was from Brian barczyk (one of the biggest breeders in the US) was to "handle a snake like its never going to bite". I guess what he means is if your confident and watchful of what the snakes doing, you'll be just fine.
Regarding all the different info from one keeper to another, it's all down to what we as keepers find works best with our animals. They are all individual and have their own personalities and quirks. Stick to the basics and you'll soon have a whole host of things that you, and you alone find works

thanks for the info guys im getting better with it im letting him settle on my hand till hes ready to explore about then move him from hand to hand and im trying to see his limits by rubbing him from mid body going up and down to see when hes going to tighten up then i stop for a min i got up to his neck tonight without him moving but his tail seems like hes not wanting me near i guess its just a case of us getting to know each other and knowing the limits i wash my hands every time im getting him out so he knows its me even my kids wash before i hand him over am i better in one room or walk about the house so he can pick up all the scents and not freek out when i take him from room to room |
