personally i would not us a heat roack for any animal as kelf says they may be ok for lizards but snakes will wrap themselves around the heat rock an cause thermal blocking just like having a big heavy snake covering a heatmat

Apparently the later versions are designed to fail in the off position unlike older ones that would get super hot, but I agree with the above, very little use for a snake

I have also heard these are no good for snakes, risk of burns etc but I have never tried one
