At a time when responsible reptile keeping is at its up most importance, I come across this

http://m.thestar.co.uk/community/animal-staff-stunned-by-12ft-snake-on-sheffield-hills-1-5018054

It's beggars belief why anyone would release a snake of any kind, with the increase in popularity, surely it would have been easy to sell, or at the very least donated or given to the authorities

Is it my imagination or did that snake change sizes and species about 3 times during that piece?

I wouldn't put it past animal rights people to set things like this up to give our hobby a bad name

Spitting?
Baring of teeth?
Stone Throwing?
12 foot, 7 foot, back to 12 foot?

Why can't they report these things in a more factual manner.

Irresponsible owner dumps neglected animal on Moors.[

Too runners came across an abandoned, cold, and clearly neglected Burmese Python. These animals require heat to function so abandoning it into the cold was a severe act of cruelty. The snake due to being cold, underweight and riddled in snake mites which is a clear sign of long term neglect was defensive but with careful handling the snake was captured and taken to a vet for medical attention. If anyone has any information as to the identity of the owner of this snake please contact the RSPCA. The snake is now being cared for in a specialist reptile centre and is recovering well.

Doesn't take much to say the same thing but without all the rubbish.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good bit of sensationalism

What annoys me is it's just bad writing, I mean my nephew could write a better news article than that... If you're going to lie, fine, but at least be professional and read through to make sure you haven't magically changed the size and species repeatedly...

My friend works at an animal rescue centre and he has told me about the amount of times he's had people call up saying they've moved into a new house and found snakes hidden in cupboards that have been left by the previous owners! How anyone could makes me sick, as it would be far more simple and better for the animal's eelfare if they handed it into an animal centre in the first place.

I'm sorry but I cannot help laughing at the article. Hole picking time!

Under the picture it says "The boa constrictor is finally captured", then later it becomes a Burm...so which is it?

Who in their right mind would throw a stone at a 12ft snake? Surely that's a quick fire way to be bitten, and who wrote that first aid guidelines, I wonder what it tells you to do if zombies attack...go give them a hug?

Since when do snakes spit (ok, some venomous species can/do spit, but I'm generalising) or show their teeth?

All in all, a nice bit of sensationalism with very little depth. The article was written extremely well that the author didn't put their name to it...I wonder why!
