| Does everybody have people like this in their family or among friends? There are a couple of my partners friends that really pee me off with their comments about how i keep snakes, as far as im concerned as long as my snakes are kept correctly and are of a manageable size and non venomous then they are less dangerous than dogs!!! Why is it that just because reptiles and inverts aren't cute and cuddly to some the assume they are horrible animals that are very dangerous and shouldn't be kept in the same house as kids? People like this boil my pee, if they just took the time to find out about them and realise they are pretty harmless animals that even if they did bite would cause less damage than a cute and cuddly hamster that they all love grrrrr rant over |

People will always have preconceptions and stuff about exotics, so long as the people making the big decisions are well informed then i don't think it matters much. and tbh i like it when people are like "wow youve got snakes wtf" and telling them that they are harmless doesn't convince them so live and let live |

i know what you mean there are a couple of people in my family like that.
to be honest i haven't got the time for narrow minded people like that. im happy to talk to people who are curious but if all i get is ewww they are disgusting,dangerous ect ect them im not interested.
everyone we know knows i keep snakes but if they were to be like that when here then they are not welcome lol |

I get peed off when that happens and people start zoning out when you start talking about snakes. some of my friends and there dads are scared of snakes and they still give me the ecscuse of " I'm not afrad of snakes I just don't like them. to my dad it sounds like I am talking an other language when I say things like vivaream, and pinkes. I have a royal and have a weird name. I'll tell you the story. I was going to get a milk snake and was going to call it miles then I got a royal and thought about python then the name PYLES came to me.then I said thats a real word and then changed it to have a Y in it.

| I, as more or less everyone on this page would agree. You just can't change some people's mindset. However you can try, my uncle came to stay over a couple of weeks ago, he'd never been near a snake. But after some gentle persuasion he had held two of our royals. Upon putting them back he wanted them straight out again lol. He even said they were cute! I think if we can get more people to just take that chance and encounter our animals then their view would really change. Easier said than done though. |
