I'm another new boy!
I have a Royal and because he isn't a Black Adder I called him Baldrick. Lol.
He was six weeks when I got him (I don't know what sex s/he is actually) as a birthday present and now he's 12 weeks and just starting a first shed. He (or she) is very inactive and hasn't come out of his hot hide for two days - is that normal?
The dogs are very interested in him (her) and s/he has already made them respect her/him by striking at them if they get too close! That's an 18 inch snake seeing off two Border Collies and a Kelpie x Collie! 
Time to find out his/her sex I think. I can't keep up this his/her and s/he much longer.
Being in a wheelchair, it's nice to have a pet I can keep up with for a change! |

Hi Gordon, I dont think there is such a thing as normal behavior :) at least not with royals.
I handle mine on the feed day, I feed them out of the viv, mine are out and about a lot more than they are in, they all strike feed. Others will say their snakes do not like one or two of the above.
If you have had him for 6 weeks, then do take him out for walkies, but beware, they are not always SLOW !!! |
