i needed to clean out my salmon pink's tub and drill a load of air holes as theres been way too much condensation in there.
he is very fast and flicks hairs alot and their hairs can cause bad reaction so didnt fancy getting the on me so moved him the easy(wimps) way but thought id take some pics incase it may help anyone who needs to move a tarantula.
first up one spider tub you can see the condesation, one bottle with the bottom cut off and one bit of card/paper
place bottle over the spider then using the card to make him climb inside move him out the way
good pic of his underside, his abdomen is a bit big so i need to cut back on his feeding a little
nice clean tub with plenty of air holes
back in the tub
done and safely secured in his home
then to scrub my hands incase of any hairs left in the tub.
just been to check on him and no more condensation in his tub or in the scorpions rubs that also had more air holes drilled in them |

Thats the way its done  Its the simple glass and beer mat technique scaled up. Now my lot are in 9L RUBs I now put an empty 9L RUB over the top of the one they are in and use a drinks straw to move them into the top one and slide the lid in while they are up. I perfected this technique because my OBT is evil and you wouldn't get close enough to put something over him before he was up your arm. I only go a full clean out every 6 months though, spot cleaning when required. You wait until your Salmon is as big as a hamster, you'll need to scale up your bottle for a bucket.
Oh and Salmon's are stocky spiders, he looks good and healthy. |

the chilean rose is easy i just pick her up to move her i never plan to hold the others, will remeber to use another rub when the pink slamon is bigger.
good to know hes looking ok thought his abdomen looked too big, need to get him a RUB to live in as i like them to be securly locked away even more so now ive been reading a thread about an escaped OBT on rfuk as some people commented about tarantula venom being much more potent to canines so do not want any escapees with 3 jack russell's in the house |
