Okay, I know that they can go off their food over the winter months, but why does this happen?

This seems arse about face to me, surely they need all the energy they can get before the breeding season?

I know its mad unless they do it to lose any excess fat so there bodies are in top condition for breeding and carrying eggs plus in the wild if males eat and hide away for two days digesting they could miss any females that may come their way

Its the first time mine's done it actually. He's about 2 years old now. I'm not worried because I know these things happen, I guess he's just getting into an 'adult' routine now.

Snakes are build to be economical and conserve energy so I think it makes sense to shut down the digestive system to fire up other areas lol
