need help where is the best place to have heat sensor for my thermostat

If its a ceramic bulb your using, I have mine directly under the bulb.

Also is it good to have the sensor in the hide or outside the hide

I would say outside the hide, but obviously not too close to the bulb. Mine is just on the ground below the bulb and works great.

This states to put the sensor in the middle, but that doesnt make much sense to me. Surely you want to control the temp at the warm end not the middle?

I think the idea behind putting the probe away from the source of heat is that you get to measure the air temp rather than the direct heating effect of a close proximity heater. I have my prob set a few inches high, and in the center of the back wall
