Hello,

I'm a newbie on here with my first royal so I'm sorry if this topic had been discussed before.

My royal python, woody, has been quite difficult to feed but we finally made progress and he had been feeding well until Saturday.

He took the mouse well, coiled up but when I came back hee had spat it back out. I left him and tried to feed him again tonight because he was out waiting. He struck before I even got fully into him, coiled bit has left it again.

Any suggestions would be very welcome! I'm worried about the little guy, he's obviously hungry!

Thanks in advance

Sometimes just happens like this - I have a girl who strikes and constricts every single time but only eats half the time - sometimes she'll swollow half, get stuck on a leg and spit it back out, other times she won't find the head and will just give up.

I've found smaller foods help them hopefully yours won't do it forever like mine does!

Nothing to really worry about though by the sounds of it - if you have time to watch keep an eye on what happens, when he gives up get the rat back out, reheat it and try again - attempt to get the strike on the rats nose :)

Couple of mine will constrict but then roam around for a while before going back to eat. Might be worth feeding him/her just before you go to bed so they have no distractions when it comes to eating, and hope you don't have a mouse. There when you wake up
