Hi all,

A little while ago I said I'd post some pics of my new vivexotic viv that as I assembled it. So, now that I've packed up for Christmas I've finally got some time to do it so here goes.

We have one of the new vivexotic medium vivs in oak which comes packed like this...

I unpacked it and layed it all out, making sure that I had all the relevant screws and bits and bobs...

As you can see, it has all the panels, and glass and the aluminium runners are in the cardboard box on the left.

You start by attaching the runners to the top and the bottom panels. You need to watch out as there is a difference between the runners. Get it wrong and your glass may fall out!!

Once that's done you attach the back and sides. It all goes together using a pin and locking nut system which means it's quite easy to undo should you need to

Then attach the top and the bottom (a few screws are used to attach the bottom but not many)...

And, voila!!!

It comes with two per drilled holes in the back at the top on either side. I drilled a third in the middle for the stat probe.

Once you've popped the glass in, you're pretty much done! Oh yeah, I also then sealed the bottom with plain silicone sealant before dressing it.

It's a nice looking viv that fits in as a piece of furniture for the room. One thing we did find was that standard viv locks don't fit. I ordered a vivexotic door lock for around £7 which fits the pre cut hole in the door perfectly. It does come with a little plastic bung that goes through the pre cut hole but I imagine a fairly big snake could easily knock it out if they had a mind to.

I ran my hand round all the insides, including the vents and didn't find any sharp edges so it seemed fine to me :)

i saw one in a store the other day and did like them but i like to have my digi therms fixed to the bottom apron (hole drilled to feed lead through then a screw in to hook the therm on). i wont be able to do that with the new style ones so looks like i will be building my own vivs in future to match the old style vivexotics
