I have had snakes for a few years now and I'm pretty used to most of the situations snakes can throw at you, everything from stuck sheds to strikes. The one bit that always makes me jump without fail is getting hissed at.

I'm not scared of the snakes when they hiss, its just so rare for them to do it and its incredibly loud that it just makes me jump.

Today I had to move Duke out of his vivarium while I sorted out the glass runner in the viv, he was in the spare viv for 2 hours and he'd clearly had enough because as soon as I got a hold of him he let out an almighty hiss, so much I could feel the wind he was generating. He kept it up for about a minute, I sat him down on my knee and he calmed down.

I have seen a burm hissing but half heartedly, I would love to see how I'd react faced with a big snake fully hissing (ie like Kelf's Pilkington).

Clank always hisses at me, he is just an overall grumpy snake who doesn't want to come out, but when he does, you can tell he loves it lol. He must be very relaxed and I spoil it for him ;)

Fae our little boa likes to hiss occasionally when blue, but only half heartedly.

I'm used to hissing perfectly fine now but I still jump when I get strikes or when they quickly duck their head under a coil!
