So swapped the king into a new viv, it's a 3ft with a 100w ceramic heater on a pulse stat. Keeps temp perfect but here's the question. I will be getting Loki the same setup, but how do you guys keep the humidity up?
Currently the king is in shed, I have moved his water dish under the heater and put in a damp flannel. Humidity is at 25-35!!!! When I spray every morning humidity goes upto 50-60ish but only lasts a few hours? What can I do lol
I think I will have a problem with the same setup with my royal???? Any advise or what do you guys do with ceramics?

Don't worry about keeping humidity high, It's not a great idea to have high humidity in a viv for too long. It'll be a breeding ground for bacteria
A quick spray should be enough, just make sure that your snkae has clean, fresh water. IMO hydration is far more important than humidity. I only have two sakes in vivs, both with ceramics. My normal royal and my rainbow boa. Neither get sprayed, both have fresh water every 2 days and both shed fine. Even the boa, that if you go by everything writen on forums, should be at 70-80% humidity. Mine would be lucky if she sees 40-50% |

Your hygrometer is either broken, inaccurate, in the wrong place OR all of the above. Heat + waterbowl + normal house humidity + high humidity outside for most of this year (90%+) = a humidity level of at least 50%. My ceramic vivarium setup is 64% and its not been sprayed for months. |

FEZZA....how do you find your Rainbow Boa as far as temperment and size go? Was thinking of getting one but read a thing saying that humidity was important so a glass tank was best to keep them in, so put me off a wee bit???? |

I have a similar setup, 3ft viv exotic with 150w ceramic bulb. I have an analogue exo terra hygrometer that reads around 30%RH and a Komodo digital (bought because i didnt trust analogue) which reads around 40%. I dont let it concern me unless Juju is shedding though. Then I use a moss box, regular misting and "shed aid". |
