Hi everyone, I was very pleased to finally get my own royal. I got him last week,he is 4 mths old. He had a bad shed when I got him, all came off in bits. And he has not eaten since I got him. Tried mice and rats . Is a little flighty will let me touch him. But my friend went to hold him and he hissed a lot at her, and then struck at her. But tonight he seemed ok with me. And help with feeding would be great thanks ..

Male standard royal: Dexter
Female Mötley corn: Teal
Dalmatian crested gecko: Nobby.
1 son: Kieran
2 Daughters: Tamzin & Teagan.
And wish to own a bumblebee royal.

Hello and welcome!

It's always best to leave a snake alone for at least a week after they move into a new environment to allow them to settle down and get comfy in their new crib! Then after that you can try feeding. They are renowned for being problem eaters, but give it time to settle in and all should be fine!

I did this when I got my 4 month old royal back in Dec and he's eaten everything since with no problems!

Also make sure his tank is set up as it should be. Plenty of hiding places, correct temperatures/hot spot etc

Bad shed may be due to humidity being to low at the time. Generally want it between 50-60% but when due a shed can be raised to 70%

Lots of info here, and we're here to help if we can, so dont be afraid to ask
