My sister practically lives in a pet shop down the road from where she lives and was telling me about a little young royal that they took in as a clueless owner had blinded him!
The way he blinded him? The poor little fella had been through a bad shed and had a retained eye cap, now ive never experienced this myself yet but I've never heard of this being tried... The owner tried to pick the shed off with the end of a needle and ended up blinding the poor snake!
Had anyone else heard of these kinda incidents? |

Oh dear, poor little chap. Stupid people, what on earth were they thinking of? It doesn't take brain of Britain to work out eyes and needles don't go well together! Makes me so cross when I hear of such things. |

I saw a guy bring a 7 foot Boa into the reptile shop because it was not eating. They tipped it out of the bag and it was barely alive. Turned out they'd kept it on a heat mat at 20 degrees for a year, it had stopped eating 6 months ago and when it was turned onto its back it didn't even right itself. They were instructed to get it to a vet ASAP, I was so tempted to step in and refuse to let them take it away but it was in such a bad way the vet would have just Put it to sleep and I didn't have anywhere to put such a big snake at the time. |

I heard some kid in one of my local pet shop saying he had to keep his boa under the bed in a tub with no heat because his parents didn't know that he had it. Luckily it has been rescued now thank god |

I just don't know why people even get pets if they don't care. Any pets. I'd starve before I didn't feed any of mine, although I know my cats would probably eat my face off anyway.
But you go to Preloved.com Pets for example and I know some are swops or legitimate sellers but some are like "I gotz dis snake an it iz borin so u can buy it for like 100 quid with all itz stuff". I mean, I know a lot of shops turn away time wasters and the like but others must know the life they are selling the snake into.
Sorry to ramble, it just gets my goat! |

Ramble away! Personally I've never brought an animal, any animal without doing reading and educating myself as much as I can, something's can only be learned through getting hands on.
But it amazes me the levels of stupidity some people go to when animals are involved! There's been a couple of times I've wanted to take someone's pet cause they're not looking after it properly but sadly couldn't! I've reported a few people tho! |

How on earth can somebody been so unbelievably stupid and put a needle so close any animals eye?! I'm sure they wouldn't have done it to their own eye so why would they do it to their pet?! People like that make me mad, Poor poor thing I hope it goes to a decent home with someone who actually knows how to look after it. As for using diesel to treat mites, that makes me sick as well, what idiots!! There's no excuse to not look after your pets to the best of your ability, I just don't understand some people.

Noodle had a retained eyecap last shed and as I was unsure as to how to remove it, guess what I did? I took it to a vet. Well, to be fair, my missus took him as I was at work but she took a video on her phone (you gotta love technology) so I could see what to do.
Yes, it cost a couple of quid for the consultation but that's all part of owning a pet. Some of the things people do are breathtaking! |
