every time they claim burm's are multiplying because of pet owner's releasing them, most of them escaped when hurricane katrina took out a pet store releasing 100's if not more of them.

a few being released by owner's would not cause them to become invasive for this to happen there need's to be a large amount released in the same area or for owner's to be letting them go on a regular basis, yes some would have been released by moron's but very unlikely enough for them to become as invasive as they have been.

afrock's have been found in the everglade's since the 90's but are only confined to a small area so seem's a few got released an are surviving/breeding IF a few hundred were to be released in one go then there would be a bigger problem like with the burm's.

sorry slight rant but it really bug's the crap out of me when they constantly blame the problem in pet owner's releasing snake's

Yeah, know what you mean. There cant be as many as they say either. hundreds of people spent 2 weeks culling burms in the everglades and im sure they only found about 20 snakes.

I like how they say "one of florida's most dangerous species" do they not know Florida has native venomous snakes that are a hell of a lot more dangerous than a burm, a burm would be like coming across an angry puppy compared to the venomous snakes that and the crocs

Yeah, I was in Florida last year and talking to my girlfriends uncle who lives on a farm out there. He was going on about coming face to face with cottonmouths!! He did tell a funny story about some work men who refused to finish work on his barn until he removed a "vicious" corn snake!! lol.
Theres gators in pretty much every mass of water in Florida. We had a river behind our hotel and I was shining a torch over it at night and you could see all their eyes glowing red. I know what I would prefer to wrestle....

Haha i could just imagine that with the cornsnake lol yeah and cotton mouths are more likely to catch you unawares compared to a 10ft chunk of a burm
