Strange one for you. Or seems strange to me anyway. The last couple of days my ambient temperature has been rising by about 2-3c over night and then drops to normal over the day! This used to be the other way round as I'm sure many of yours is!I haven't had my heating on recently so maybe its because the heat lamp is on more to reach my hot spot temperature which heats the whole viv? I use a ceramic on a pulse stat |

When I say I haven't had heating on I mean my house heating. Not the vivs heat source ;) |

I've had a similar problem this week, it's incredibly mild here though. I've had to open the windows over night as it gets really muggy on the evenings. It's nothing to worry about short term though, temperature in the ambient will fluctuate with surrounding temperatures, as long as your hot spot is behaving itself the snake can always get in his water bowl should be feel a need to cool down more than ambient permits. My corn will lay by the bowl too and cool that way. |

Just recheck your sensors are in the right place and doing what they should etc and other than that, not a lot you can do but crack a window. |

Could it be that because the weather has been warmer we have the doors and windows open during the day. Come evening we close them all up because the nights are still chilly but because of the day temperatures the house retains more heat which builds over night? |

Possibly due to temps through the day enough to hold the viv at a high enough ambient to prevent the stat from activating the heater. Result is the temperature in the viv remains at a constant ambient temperature. However in the evening the ambient drops low enough to kick the thermostat on. All thermostats have an initial hysteresis that results in large fluctuations in temperature while it fights to control to the set point. Just a thought. |

So i can't really control ambient temperature without sacrificing my hot spot temp? In that case should I ignore my night time ambient temperature and just look at hot spot? |
