Shame seems a waste just to put on garden, only stopped using it as my male royal always fed in separate rub,but he have not fed for 3 months, I tried feeding him in his viv and he have now fed for the last 2 weeks, so I have been keeping him on paper, as a bit worried about him eating the substrate.

Shouldn't be a problem really,Or put down paper on the spot where he's eating.

How's the humidity with using orchid bark? Was thinking of switching to that as I'm struggling to get my humidity above 30 without spraying twice a day!

Hi I just keep a moss box in viv, he never uses it unless he going in to shed,
I dont like offering food on small a bit of paper placed on top of substrate as I have seen what can happen when they strike and rap the food and paper up in one go.

long as the rat/mouse is dry there's not much chance of any substrate being ingested, i feed all mine in the viv an their on aspen or orchid bark.

if you want to put the food on something use a plastic plate, rub lid ect so they don't take the paper down with the food.

a little bit of substrate wont cause a problem, my old royal split a rat an ended up with a huge gob full of aspen an still pooed fine a week or so later

Might give that ago, but when he was young he tried to eat kitchen roll and a mouse all at once, it was a nightmare to get off of him.

Yeah should have said plastic lid etc etc, mainly just put something there to rest the food on he can't eat :)

I use the same bark, but mine are fed outside the vivs.

The humidity stays about 50% to 60% in mine without spraying.
