I'm toying with the idea of installing one of these in the cold end of Helga's viv.
Not sure how it would affect the humidity but I've got a flexible setup so could adjust by drilling some more holes in the roof.
I'm thinking of either getting the smallest one just as a feature or getting a big one and having the bottom as her main waterbowl.
Any thoughts?

Dunno from a snake point of view but it would look great and add interest |

Have thought about this before. Aside from the cleaning issues, which if your prepared to remove regularly to clean and disinfect, that's not a problem. The thing that put me off is the constant vibration of the pump. Snakes being particularly sensitive to vibration may get stressed out by this. Maybe somebody has had some experience of using a water feature in a viv and will share their findings. |

They look cool but are a total PITA. Llike baobab says, they need constant cleaning or they become a breeding ground for the bacteria that cause RIs

I'm currently working out a very low rev water pump system to keep the water circulating in the waterbowl type scenario. I'm just testing at the moment, when I have more info I shall share. PS Importingg tiny water pumps (and I do mean tiny) is interesting. |

It wouldn't get as dirty in a normal snake viv,as say a planted gecko viv with you feeding live bugs etc.
But yes,it would still need cleaning :) it's a pain to clean,the pump is crap,It's crap :) |

Now THAT sounds very interesting Bob, would be good to know how that gets on.
@ Boomslang, what would need cleaning? That actual water course or the inernal mechanisms etc? I think the main issue here is the constant buzz and stuff- may get annoying to be stuck in a tank with that 24/7.
Unless it was on a timer... |

The buzz isn't that bad :) But the pump hose is to short. So can and does lift the pump of it's suckers,So then you get an annoying buzz and have to keep taking it all apart to reposition the pump :)
Pump is cheap 50p pump :) side falls off lots, gets dirty inside easy.

All of it :) without taking the whole thing out each time, you can't get at parts to clean right :) due to the surface material and little places where the dirt hangs inside etc.
It has to many parts that you can't really clean,So you get a build up of dirt within the hose and other places.Which just makes clean water dirty.
It shouldn't get to dirty in a snake viv,But i wouldn't bother buying one :) |

Another thing, your looking for something to up humidity due to shed problems right?
Why not buy a fogger and stick the hose to a vent, place it on a timer to fog once or twice a day. |

Nope, not due to shed problems, just to make things a little more interesting.
I'm quite lucky in that somehow my normal humidity is 55% without me having to adjust anything so I leave it like that and when she's shedding, (like right now) fold up a kitchen towel and put one end in her waterbowl and the other end laid onto a rock in the hot end and then I cover all but two of the holes in the roof- gets it up to about 80% which is more than enough? |
