I bought my Royal three weeks ago.
She is CB 08 and around three feet long.
She has had two feeds since purchase with no problem.
The last feed ten days ago was 1 x large mouse.
She basked under the heat-lamp on the evening but since then she has not come out of her hide.
Is this part of a royals normal behaviour?
It's the hiding away that worries me.
Any advice will be appreciated!

this is so totally normal!
there's a bit on another thread about you might as well have an empty viv to sit and look at
of course some are more sociable than others............
give her a week to settle in, then try a feed and if she takes it allow a further 2 days for her to digest her meal before starting to handle her. if she doesn't feed i'd recommend not handling her at all until she does.

Princess didn't come out of her hide for about two weeks and it turned out that she was getting ready to shed. Last night she was out and roaming about like a good 'un.

make sure she has a hide in the warm end too. sometimes if they feel so insecure about their new home they don't seem to venture out to find somewhere warm so it might be worth moving her to the warm end to let her know where it is.

she's come out tonight making it obvious she's hungry, took one large mouse and retreated to hide with head out scenting for more.
Is it better to feed a little often or a lot over a longer period?

I feed 10-15% of their weight (girth dependant) approximately every 5 days until 400g, every 7 days until 800g, every 10 days until 1200g and then every 14 days.

These are not exact figures, but are just to give an idea.
