Morning all. I have a question about heat mats. What is the maximum weight snake you would put on one? I think our girl may be too big for hers. She is 800g. Trouble is she needs a new viv too so it will be an expensive trip to the reptile shop! |

If you need a new viv etc, just get a another form of heating.I've only used mats mainly in rubs when they're small.
she is abit big vs the risks for a mat.More so if it's a wooden viv you're getting. When the snake will be in direct contact with the mat.Plus id never use a mat in a wooden viv anyway. |

Best bet is to get ceramic heat bulb etc the snakes tend to be more lively too |

The plan was to get her on the ceramic in the new viv. The boys are on them in theirs. I was hoping for a month or so to save up! I will have to bite the bullet & go for the new viv now. I hope my bank balance can take it! |

Wont your mat be on the outside of the rub though? will need to go inside with a wooden which is no good. I would def go for a ceramic |

100% with you on the ceramics in a viv, mats heating a viv are about as useful as t*ts on a fish
I was referring back to the original question of "what's the maximum weight snake you would put one on?"
I was trying to be kind to coxcats bank balance too, taking into account the cost of viv + ceramic + holder vs tub + mat |

Yeah its a costly business. Always planned to use ceramic in her new viv. The main point was, how heavy is too heavy for a mat? If she is too heavy now then I need to know as I will have to go and order a new viv etc. (:() |
