This is how I've put together this set up. I'm sure there are other ways & variations but this one seems to be working well for me whilst holding temp & humidity.
I used one small bag of hydro balls used for plant pots & placed in bottom of RUB. Make sure to really rinse your balls before use!
Next I added a layer of fiber membrane(from a garden center)& added the water tube in the corner. I later replaced this tube for a much longer one for ease when topping up. The membrane stops the Scorpion from digging down into the hydro balls or gravel.
Then start to add the coco soil. I used one block for this set up which makes about 9 LTR's. I compacted it as I was putting it in.
Before totally filling with the soil You can start to make different contours with it to help create the hides. I've gone for a sunken water bowl which could be a headache to keep clean.
Just add some stone, moss & bark & nearly done.
Once complete I placed the RUB half over a heat mat shared with one of my Royals & added water via the filling tube. I added slowly to ensure that a nice even distribution of water was achieved. The water level is half way up the depth of hydro balls. One happy Red Claw.

Cool setup i need to do false bottoms on my lot at some point.
One thing though the heat mat needs to be on the side of the rub as they burrow to get away from the heat |

I tried that at first but he/she burrowed right next to it. I've actually taken it away now & its still holding temp so might do away with it all together. I'll monitor it oven the next few hours & see what happens. |

yea she will likely burrow next to it as it's warm but will be able to burrow deeper or away till she find's the temp she want's.
mine don't burrow much to be honest they just dig out s little scrape under a bit of bark an that's it.
none of my lot have heating at the moment as it turned it all off week's ago, long as the room is fairly warm they will be just fine 24-27c ish is the temp range they are happy with if i remember right |
