Would it be safe to assume that as with pretty much any animal sizes can vary quite considerably ?
My Royal is coming up to 4 yrs and still barely weighs a kilo (around 3 ft long).
She appears healthy, feeds regularly, sheds every 3 months, and seems perfectly happy.
I know that she was mistreated by a previous owner in her youth (although I was never told exactly what said mistreatment entailed). Could this have affected her long term ?

You do get big ones, small ones, average ones etc. Its possible that malnutrition has stunted her growth. So long as she is healthy now though I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as she is just a pet and not a breeding plan as its unlikely she will ever be big enough to cope with breeding.

what size food is she eating now? you might not be able to make her grow longer but 1kg for 3ft still leaves room for healthy weight gain
