What incubator does everyone use? I am wanting to start breeding viper geckos, which produce tiny eggs (smaller than a 5p), so I wont need anything massive. What would you recommend?
(I know you can make them but im crap at DIY, so would prefer to just buy)

I don't know if they sell this in the UK but here in the USA, a lot of breeders use the Hovabator. We can usually find one for sale at Ebay for $45 or so. The most common one has the egg turner for chickens. We just take the turner out and put the gecko eggs in deli cups with moistened perlite, cover it with the deli cover that has been punctured with little holes, and set the temps to 85 Fahrenheit. We also cover most of the air holes on the Hovabator to maintain high humidity in the incubator. Geckos should hatch in 40 days or so without too much fuss.
I know you said you don't want a DIY but it's really easy to make one out of a cooler. Easier than making enclosures for the baby geckos! I use a small cooler, put a heat mat on the bottom, line it with bottled water and then put a stat on top of the bottles. The deli cups with moist perlite go on top of the bottles and I stabilize the temps using a temp gun to check the temps in the cooler and set the stat to turn off when the temp gun temp goes beyond 85 Fahrenheit. I don't even have airholes in the cooler. I just open it twice a day to check on the eggs which is sufficient air. So, not too complicated, right? |

If I can get an incubator for around £50-£60 then it should work out cheaper and easier than having to buy heat mat, thermostat, cooler, thermometer/temp gun etc.
Thanks for the advice, but like I said im not really one for DIY. Prefer to buy something that is pre-made for the purpose. Its less hassle and its not my fault if it breaks.

| It dont cost much i went to the dump and got the fridgeva mat stat and a 22w mat. U could ass a fan but its up to u. Will cost about £50. Stat 25 mat. Give me 60 and ill make u one like mine |

We want to make an incubator out of an old glass door normal sized fridge. Unfortunatly, living way up in NE Scotland there are never any for sale on ebay anywhere near us, plus its always pick up only. Looks like were going to have to buy a new wine cooler from currys and convert that. 
Unless anybody up our way knows of an old one I can buy. |
