There are some right idiots in the dark side there even having a pop at this forum calling up stamp collectors because most of us keep our royals in rubs . There saying 33l and 50l rubs are not good enough for keeping royals in. What they fall to understand in there one tracked thinking is wrong and its very clear not many of them keep royals and don't understand most royals are more than happy in rubs and can stop feeding if put into a viv. |

I've seen that thread and noticed that comment regarding this forum. Totally agree with you, there's been some right daft comments made. There always seems to be controversial and argumentative threads on there. |

I've only ever known people to slag others off on there. This is a much better place to be. It's friendly here and if anyone needs help or pointing in the right direction it's done in the kindest possible way. They would do well to remember the saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" Even if it's a difficult subject and somebody is clearly in the wrong there are ways to correct them without being down right nasty. I'm just glad I found this forum!! |

I use 50l rubs myself, I wouldn't use 33l and I imagine people who use 60l say the same about my 50l it's all personal preference and doing what you think is right for your animal.
I have one female that I'm looking into moving into a tub bigger than 50l purely because she's a monster, I look at each snake differently and they get homes suited to their needs.
I have used viv stacks before I started using RUBs so I've been on both ends of this age old debate personally I much prefer RUB's at the cost of having my rack look a bit ****ty (plastic just doesn't have that nice look a viv does) I get much cleaner homes, easier to move around, easier to heat and clouded plastic instead of glass which personally I think royals much prefer.
But as I always say each to their own, long as people do their research I don't care how they keep their animals. |

personally i wouldn't keep an adult royal in a 50ltr rub
also i would only use a rub rack for hatchling/juvenile snake's |

The "stamp collector" comment is funny!! To be honest, I think Royals are happier in Rubs than vivs. I keep mine in a viv because im all about the aesthetics of keeping snakes. I just love observing my snake hiding under his bark all day... I think if I had multiple royals theres no doubt i would have them in rubs in a rack. |

i only got to the 4th page and got bored of it. I have asked a few questions over there and got some great replies but it feels like if you give any information away about your setup, temps etc they pounce and tell you its all wrong and you shouldn't be allowed to keep reps |

I keep all mine bar the carpet python and the hatchis in 50l rubs. If I had them all in vivs id have run out of space long ago! Plus my rubs look to be a lot bigger than some of the tubs iv seen the main breeders on youtube keeping them in. Iv found my royals feed better and are quite a bit more active (out at night exploring etc) since I made the change. I suppose its down to each snake but I wouldnt hesitate to put any that didnt seem happy back in to vivs if I thought it would help. I dont use the darkside at all. This is the first forum I found and have never had any need to go anywhere else for helpfull and prompt answers to my questions from friendly members. |

Isn't a 33l rub a bit big for keeping stamps in. Personally I prefer vivs but don't have a problem with any housing if the snake is "happy". We are probably going to start using RUBs at some point, but will try to keep the adults in vivs. |

Oh no. Were they talking about me? I work with stamps and I do keep ones I like. No can't be me I keep them in a folder like all other stamp collectors.
There will always be opinions that conflict with others, for instance I don't keep my snakes in Rubs, I like to display my snakes (displaying a Royal, am I serious) but I have used Rubs and there is absolutely no good reason why you can't, I keep my frog in one. It would be interesting to hear the reasons they believe that you can't keep snakes in a APPROPRIATELY SIZED rub.
Anyway as a nice and calm forum that we are I'm sure the dark side has its uses. |

That's not at all true.

Yeah totally, that viv space could fit six rubs, and six more snakes. It's far more important to base your housing on how many you can jam into a space. Not getting at you,but how you worded that.Sounds like having more,is more important then anything.
I've used rubs,But when you use the bare minimum housing. Its down to you waiting more snakes per area etc.More so,to people that have lots and lots. Then try to justify it with poor outdated facts. |
