Hey guys, this is going to sound a bit dumb but I'm wondering what size prey my royal should be on? She won't touch rats, so is currently on fuzzy mice. I figured this was a good place to start to actually get her eating. I'm fairly sure she could manage a small mouse, it's about the same width as her widest part but I wanted to double check since she has such a skinny neck. I know with corns the general rule is up to 1.5x their width at the widest part, does this apply to royals too? I did offer her a small mouse but she turned her nose up (but then again she refused the fuzzy too, so she probably just wasn't in a food mood). Thanks in advance :p

1.5 times the widest part is a good rule. Unfortunately Royals are such a pain. Sometimes they get intimidated by pray size and only eat smaller and sometimes they just decide they want to worry us and not eat. Some of ours are good at pushing the worry buttons. You just have to keep trying on they're normal rotation and try different enticements of scenting, braining, species, heating methods etc.etc. All this assuming they're set up and location it's conducive to a happy royal.

Thanks, I'll give the smalls another go next time. She's a funny one, when we first got her she wouldn't take anything so I started assist feeding (she was very skinny when we got her, I don't think the previous owner knew what he was doing) and once the food was in her mouth is disappeared as if into a vacuum. She has taken a couple off the tongs by herself, but more often than not I have to get her out, place it delicately in her mouth, and she'll bite and coil before eating it apparently very eagerly. She just goes to sleep on them if we leave them overnight :/ I always swore I'd never bother with royals knowing what finicky eaters they can be...but I fell into the trap...
