So another noob question...

Mrs snake is in shed yet I didn't realise this as I had left her alone as she was new. She's only partially shed but I gave her a wee bath tonight to help.

A lot came off or at least was hanging off her afterwards.I didn't want to pull it off and figure it would come off by itself as she goes about her business in the viv. I hope that's the right thing to do.

The humidity has been raised to around mid to high 60s since Friday. It's now Monday. So how much longer should the humidity be at the higher level? I don't want to cause RI.

Any suggestions?

I've never bothered with the bathing stuff,Unless its a major problem. It will come of by iself with the raised humidity, spraying the snake etc etc etc.

It's new,so don't go ott with the baths and messing around to much.it will come of :) Just keep the humidity up until it comes of.Which shouldn't be to long.

I know it says it on the care sheet but keeping humidity at 50% isn`t actually correct for Royals, its much higher than this in the wild. Basically if your Royal isn`t shedding correctly then your humidity is to low.
Crystal palace Reptiles keep their around the 90 mark all year long, and eggs are incubated around the same level

Cheers guys.

Hodgie - I'm confused - All the research I did kept mentioning that too high a %RH will contribute to respiratory infection. How can a 24/7 humidity level of 90% RH be ok?

So on this website before you click on the "Enter forum" link, there are FAQs. In there it says that the shedding takes 2-3 weeks. So, am I right in saying that 2-3 weeks at this humidity level will be ok and shouldn't cause respiratory infection?

I only raise the humidity the day their eyes go from blue to clear, and I normally only keep the humidity up for 1 or 2 days, does me fine

High humidity combined with unnaturally low temps will cause RI.

Ahhh, Thanks for clearing that up. So if the snake spent too long in the cold hide there could be problems.

No thats not what i`ve said,
If your temps are fine then your Royal will self regulate and be fine.
