hello to everyone, im after a little bit of help if there is anyone who can give it to me. I have a Royal Python of 2008, hes a very good feeder and has never refused a feed and always strike feeds, but for the last 3 weeks he has still continued to feed well but he is not passing anything he has now had 4 medium mice and not had a toilet yet!! does anyone know wheather he is doing this to fat build or maybe does he have a problem going and if so what could i do to help, and should i stop the feeds until he has been. i dont think it could be because he is due to shed because he only shedded around 5-6 weeks ago. thanks to anyone who can help me. james. |

My Montiiee usually poo's straight after shedding. This is usually every 6-8 weeks. Unlike my dog that poo's about 3 times a day. Did your snake poo after it's last shed? |

hi James.
Agreed with AG, my snakes also only tends to go every four to six weeks. sometimes he goes after a shed and other times not, also sometimes he will do a tinkle in between...

4 to 6 weeks for mine to
However (nothing against you) the less you feed, the less often it will go and Medium Mice won't fill a Royal up much. |

Have you tried rat weaners? I've had Sofia for nearly 4 months & she's only pooed 3 times, don't worry |

twice a week is too often for his digestion really. ideally feed every 5 days so they have a chance to fully digest their meal before the next one. 300g is a bit light, mine is 363g and although he's in good health and looks up to weight and in good condition i'm sure other people's 08s are heavier. i know how frustrating it can be, Queenie went through a stage of only eating medium mice, then eventually moved up to large/XL (ex breeders) and has finally taken his first rat weaner. if they don't want to eat anything too big you can't really make them, i'd settle for them eating regularly and continuing to put on weight if they're a fussy feeder. |

i'd go for every 5 days with a large mouse/similar sized rat if he'll take it. when he tops 400g move to feeding an appropriate sized meal every 7 days-ish.
humidity is just normal room humidity - around 50%. i use orchid bark as a substrate that i bake to dry it out (and kill nasties) so it doesn't increase the humidity too much. the onlt time i increase humidity is whe their eyes have gone blue and then cleared so they're due to shed in a few days, then i either mist the viv once or provide a damp hide. that way i'm not increasing the humidity for any length of time as it can cause health problems such as RIs and scale rot. |

i've not got a decent sig on here basically e i can't be bothered, and because i can't take any decent pics of my snakes
at the end of the bannermaker options where it says 'here is the code' copy and paste that in your user profile where it says signature (on the right hand side of the page) you can then use preview and work out which extra bits of text you can delete to leave you the pic
somebody else will probablyhave a better explanation than me though |
