Hey Guys
i dont know if its the same every where in the world
but decorative items and hides are expensive in Sout Africa!
is there rules to what i may NOT put in the viv, i know there is certain types of wood thats not recomended but can i put in an OLD dry tree stump? stuff like that |

think so, as long as it's not known to be poisonous and as long as u treat it (soak it in water with bleach and/or bake it in the oven)
it is the same here though, it's all expensive!
u can make your own hides, from things like margerine tubs or ice cream tubs, there's even a thread on here about making them from salt dough which is pretty good as u can make all sorts of colours/shapes with salt dough.
fake plants dont necessarily have to be specially bought ones either, you can get some good fake plants that are supposed to be "for the home" etc, they sell them all over the place here, and can be as cheap as you like, they have loads on ebay, i expect it's the same there.(just make sure there are no sharp wires hanging out)
water bowl wise, u can use any heavy based container, things like ceramic dog/cat/rabbit food bowls or cooking dishes, i know a few people that use cat litter trays for their bigger snakes.
there's also the option of making your own scenery from polystyrene and grouting, then painting it all and sealing it so it's safe...depending on how elaborate u want to go with it it can be cheap or expensive, but still less than you would pay in the shops.
substrate wise, you can use kitchen towel and i think newspaper, though i personally dont like to use newspaper.

| hmmmm work used to block facebook and myspace too... think we got around that by getting to it through our emails.... not sure if that will work with photobucket though :s |
