at about 9 oclock this morning the phone rang so i answered it and it was the police ( woman ). she said there was an incident in a very busy village about 3 miles from where i live and that i may have some knowledge about it so i told her to come round.
well about an hour later she turned up, and it turns out that the indian take away that ive used in the past in this village was burgaled in MARCH and apparently they found ONLY my finger prints on the door( which is total c**p as i know how busy that take away gets ). also it opposite a pub that i use regually.
so anyway she wants to know where i was on march the 21st late at night i told her i was in bed. she said we have ur finger prints on the inside of the door but as i explained if your ordering a takeaway ur gonna be on the inside.
she then explained that the glass on the door was actually removed so i asked why they didnt get prints from that she said that gloves were worn to remove glass and look around shop,,,,,,,,,, well hang on a f*****g minute i said are you telling me that you think i went to all that trouble of wearing gloves, and removing the glass quietly as to not wake anyone , and keeping gloves on why i looked around shop,,,,,,,, and then take them OFF to open the door to leave i told her she must be a bloody genius to come to that conclusion and to come back with evidence
thing is guys i know ive never meet any of you and yu only have my word but i never did break into that indian ive never broke in to any where ( except my own house when i forgot keys lol ). im not a theife and never will be the other day i walked out of b&q with a screw driver not realising and gotto car when i then turned round and went to pay for it.
but i am abit worried about this as ive not had dealings with the police before and dont know how these things work

Well I don't see why they came to visit you???? To tell you they found your finger-prints on a take away door and then leave??? Seriously mate, I wouldn't worry about it all. How did she know they were your fingerprints?
They can't arrest anyone for their fingerprints being on a take-away door. They are bound to be if you were there buying a take away. She'll just be filling in her boxes by visiting people whose finger prints were there. I wouldn't believe her saying yours were the only ones there. My bet is you'll hear nothing more about it. She's visited and that'll be it. |

My advice was not to worry about it and that you'll probably not hear anything more about it, but as said above, if it does go to the next step and they want to interview you then definately do as lee says. |

i had a bit of trouble a few years ago when a taxi driver with no badges tried to charge me 4x the amount and when i refused to pay he assuled me,then we both got out the car and i gave him a jab in self defense and he feel and split his head,i rang the police and I got arrested for abh when they arrived and i didnt bother with a solicitor as i thought i would be cleared once i explained, boy was i wrong, ended up in crown court and the case went on for 6 months but was cleared by a jury on self defence grounds. |

I hope it gets sorted out for you Matty, but if all the police have is your fingerprints on the door of a takeaway that you admit to visiting to buy food I can't see them taking it any further. They'd never build a case on that. |

Don't worry Matt. You've nothing to worry about. Fingerprints taken from a HIGH TRAFFIC PUBLIC ACCESS point to a retail premises such as a takeaway prove absolutely nothing other than you touched the door handles at some point. You have openly admitted purchasing food from the premises. As for them only finding your prints on the handle, forget it. I won't go into scientific detail because you will fall asleep within minutes . If the get back to you again ask to see the evidence and then contact me on msn or email. My addy is on the bar above this post. Forget everything that you have seen on CSI. I'm not allowed to watch it with my wife any more because I keep criticising it. I may be able to help you with advice . Check my profile and you'll see why. I've been so wanting to be able to say that for so long |

The reason they came a calling is simple, they have to follow ANY line of enquiry. It's only if they come a calling twice you have to worry ;) |

That's a lot of the reason that the Police have the reputation they have at the moment. Too many new recruits that have very little life experience. The experiences that you guys are describing sound like they are the result of that problem. If they can recruit more people with common sense then people would probably have fewer problems with them. |

Cheers Lee. I'm hopefully going into teaching but I can now be called as an expert witness and not get told off in court for saying "in my opinion". Scary |
