I've had my royal a month tomorrow
He'll have fed 4 times when he's fed tomorrow
He's about 3 yrs old I believe and just over 3ft long

How often do they shed and what are the signs? he has what looks like a small patch of dry skinn on his head

iv noticed with my royals that a small dry patch is a sign, but there eyes will cloud over there skin will go dull and they look like they have been dusted with talc lol and then should shed within a few days (can take longer, as everyone is diff) but the older the snake the less they shed as there growth slows down but never stops,
in my banner pic, the first 1 you can see a dry patch on her and she shed within a few days of this pic

I've been concerned as well as he feels a bit rough as hes tried to escape the tank, its an old fish tank with sliding glass and small gap, theres a tiny sign of blood on his underside bout 1cm long. I;ve bought a proper brand new viv today get it tomorrow so that problem will be sol;ved. my mistake taking advice from seller that my tak would be fine!!

iv a adult corn in a tank and shes fine, i think the problem you have is the gap, also with a small bit of blood on its belly is there any chance of a bit of broken glass or something sharp on there as i know with tanks if you move them you can break the corners?

lol welcome to the addiction, I convinced myself I was only going to have my corn, then 6 months down the line I added a royal, now on the look out for something else to catch my eye, (& time needed to talk the mrs round again)

First guaranteed sign of a shed upcoming really is cloudy eyes, they then go clear and they shed usually within a week of that.

If it's three years old you may find sheds are quite a while apart as it all depends on how much they are growing

After the eyes and skin clear a bit you're looking at up to 7 days for the shed.
