As you know I just brought freyja back on thursday evening. I was intending to keep her in her rub for while but humidity was pushing 89% so as i had vivs all set up I thought i would chance it. So thursday night she moved to viv with four hides and plenty of greenery.
she took to exploring away seemed pretty settled yesterday. tonight when i got home from work at midnight I had a wee check on her and Gaia. Gaia was in hide with head out and Freyja was have a good roam with lots of tongue flicking.
i thought hunting? so I took out a small adult mouse and left it on top of viv to defrost.
At 2am she had gone into her hide I opened viv and held in the mouse gave a bit of a wiggle ( the mouse that is not me) out freyja came tongue flicking away had a good long look and BANG! perfect strike taken and constricted. Sat and watched made sure she got it all down.
So happy I could cry, having only been back for 2days and her last 2 feeds being semi assists, to watch her do it all on her own is fantastic. have a pic put its rubbish so wont bother putting it up.
Gaia is due to feed on thursday and hopefully the fact that she has not missed a feed from day one and is a good strike feeder will will not have changed with the move. Will let you know. |

Yeah strike 2 tonight. Had left on top of viv again to defrost and offered interest but no strike after about 10mins I took it away and gave it a bit of a blast with the hair dyer. re offered and gone in about 30secs. Bought enough small adult mice for a few feeds and when I only have one of those left I start to get them on to rats.
She is around 75g and 19.5" long now on small adult mice. do you think I should go to rat weaners next or rat pups/fluffs.? |
