It was Rex's first feed this evening, so naturally being new to this I was a little nervous.
I defrosted the fuzzy and made it a good temperature for him and sat it on a large piece of kitchen roll (so as not to get substrate stuck to it) in his Viv. I was so pleased when he came out of his hide straight away to have a look. Although, he did give me a look a couple of times as if to say "And what am I supposed to do with this!?!", as if I was missing the silver cutlery and candles!
I wasn't sure if he was going to get bored with it, so I gave it a little wiggle and then he went for it, not a strike as such, more of a yawn that happened to catch a dead mouse! But he swallowed it down nicely, and he even opened his mouth to prove to me he'd eaten it all when he'd finished!
Who's a clever little boy!?! |

Congratulations. It is always good to get your first feed out the way. Hopefully many more to come. |

Do you really think he could cope with something bigger? He's only a little chap, he was about 120g when I first bought him about a week ago?! And that was having just been fed, and he has yet to pass that through!
(I do hope I'm remembering correctly there!) |

Even hatchling Royals don't need fuzzy mice. They can go straight onto small mice or even small rat pups. |
