I've had my Royal for about 2 months, and he's about 5 months old, measuring about 15" long,i have a light chipping substrate and recently,he's started burrowing under it.Can anyone tell me why he's doing this and is it normal Royal behaviour?
Many thanks.

Have you got a heat mat under there that he's trying to get to?

Has he got good hides (as in the right size) ?

as BE said if the hides are to big it might be looking for somewhere where it feels more secure.

As above, have you got the right size hides and have you got too much substrate over the heat mat as it could be stopping the heat coming through. You only need a thin layer over the heat mat.

Thanks for the replies guys. The hide i have is 'perfect' according to the shop i got it from and the substrate isn't holding down the heat, with the hot end temp being 85 degrees. He doesn't do it all the time, and seems very happy to shelter in his hide.I'm bemused
