                      | Need to get another ceramic heat bulb but the only one in the shop is a 250w, is this going to be ok for a microclimate dimmer and in a 3 foot viv?
 will it be to powerful?

 thanks

                      | should probably be a 3amp fuse anne. as for the wiring, you'll have 2 wires a brown one and a blue one, brown is live blue is nuetral. some fittings label which side is which. i always go left with the blue right with the brown. |

                      | make sure you use a ceramic holder (just incase you used a normal one, it melts, quickly) |

                      | I use 250v in my 3 footers Anne. I would also use a 3 amp fuse and if im right those holders have markings on them. Think it is a A and a N...?
If so its Brown to A and Blue to N...

                      | Anne, You need a 3 amp fuse, as for the lamp holder connect the brown to the terminal that connects to the bottom of the holder and the blue wire that connects to the bit going round the side that the lamp screws into. Hope you understand that bit |

                      | yes it is a 3A fuse you need. To work out the rating you divide the voltage into the wattage which for a 250w ceramic gives just over 1A so the closest fuse is 3A

                      | well it is on a 3 amp fuse so thats fine, i never wired it, someone else did...
My biggest problem now is i cant get the temp to drop below 50.4, the only way it drops is if i hold the stat probe directly under the ceramic or have the glass open, but as soon as it is shut it is going back up again,

It has been sat at 50.4 for the last hour..and been running now for three and a half hours..

the probe is now on the wall behind the bulb and the digi thermometer is directly underneath the bulb on the ground..

it is running off a microclimate B2 magic eye dimmer

viv is 36x24x24 and i have now set the stat to 26 and the temp has just gone up to 50.8..lol..

 as per this photo

                      | pop the probe underneath the bulb on the floor, that way it measures the hot spot, the rest of the viv will level out at the right temp.
What is the temp where the probe is, as that stat allowing it to be that high? When I spoke to you the reason I said wait a while is that when they first come on it takes a while to lift the ambient temp in the viv so can run high for a while, but 50C is WAAY to high.

everything in the viv is cooking..lol..even the glass is hot...just moved the thermometer to where the probe is to see what the temp reads at, but it is still going to be way to hot...and thats with a good size vent at the back..

its reading 44.4 where the probe is..lol.

think tomorrow i will borrow my ex's drill and put the probe where you said, under the bulb see what happens..

Sabine will have to stay in Peanuts rub till the tomorrow and i can try and sort this out, i was expecting a temp hike to, but not this high...

When i put Peanut on a ceramic it settled within a couple of hours..

                      | Turn the bulb off and let everything cool. Then choose another place in the viv to put the probe and turn it back on. I would put it on the right/back wall fairly far up. Just be careful where you put the probe so it wont get damagaed. |
