My royal is just comming up to 2" long. What do all of you use as hides? I cant seem to find anything suitable in any of local shops, the only ones around here seem to be too small.
Any suggestions would be grateful

i still use the exo terra shop sold ones because my Boo is only 18 inches long
most people use cardboard boxes and cut a hole in the side for an entrance, there are many different sized boxes and im sure you will find one suitable for your snake.
alternatively you could always try and make one yourself using a mould that you believe to be a suitable size, it tells you how to make one in the DIY section.

but most people just use cardboard boxes, plus they are easy to replace and cost next to nothing

hope this helps

A shoebox would probably be a good size, or you can make a wooden box hide. Pop into your closest garden centre and see what big flower popts they have. They have a lot that dont have drainage holes in the bottom which is ideal. Just turn it upside down and mark out your hole for the snake to get in (mind and make any hole that the snake will be going through almost twice their body thickness as they like to go half in then double back out again lol) Also... liners for hanging baskets are really cool, they look good and are soft too and you get them in loads of sizes.

Have a gander at some of these links too:

if you go to pets at home they do guinea pig homes, and they can be split into two, they come in varying sizes

Exo Terra do a range of hides in different sizes and they're available online, I like them because they look quite natural. Princess is over four feet and fits in her XL hides with room to spare.

wow, never seen a really big exo terra hide chris, my pet shop sells small, medium ones not large ones, i thought i would have to result to cardboard boxes when Boo gets older, how much does the XL hides cost, must be quite a bit.

and yes i agree i like the exo terra ones because they look natural

I paid £12 each for mine from a local shop, but I've just had a look at 888 Reptiles and they have them for just under a tenner.

I've not ordered from 888 myself, but they've had good reviews on captive bred. I'm not sure what I'll be able to give Feather when she's a big girl though.
