I am not sure how many on here can answer this, maybe only Danny for reference..

so if you read this Danny answer me if your royals are the same..

the question is this...

have you noticed that the royals you are live feeding gain more weight than the ones on defrost being fed along the guidelines of what they should get?

i am asking cos i Kaz has gained an awful lot in the short time i have had her...

she came here at 160g and weighed in today empty at 510g, thats a weight gain of 350g since May and on multis not rats...so had she been on rats she might be heavier i dont know..

I have heard other people report that their live feeders seem to put on more weight. However, 350g in 5 months isn't a huge amount.

Morning Piers

no its not a lot but i dont know if it is just the way she is but she seems chunkier than P and Oscar..

another one doing well is little Kayla, weighed her yesterday following her shed and she clocked in at 375g, but she is not on live...

maybe its just they are feeding well..

I was once told the reason that MOST live feeders gain more weight is not that live is better, its just that there are less non feeds for live feeders. Can't really comment as mine all feed (well, Alice is still assist but Stig has never missed a beat)

Well cant say i have noticed to be honest all of mine seen to be gaining weight at a nice rate. As for the live feeders they are pigs dont stop eating and then for no reason they stop for ages then carry on again

I did read some where that 10% goodness is lost when you freeze rodents and live is all 100% good that might be a reason why

Same as fresh Veg tastes better than frozen Veg

You havent shortened the feeding time for the females ?

i know some are feeding as the girls want them, but not full sized meals..

what weight are you females?

bet that mojo girl of yours is a good weight isnt she?

fingers crossed then she makes it, but if she is pounding them now she should be ok,

Sabine i have not weighed yet, waiting for her to poop, but i think Karl said she was 1600g just before she came down...

Bliss is now at 1650g but i am going to wait on her as long as possible..not planning anything with her until at least february

i only have my normals for now...but that is changing after Christmas...
Oscar i am hoping to pair up with Bliss as they are both banded pattern..so if all goes well will get some nice babies from those two..

and Peanut has a date with Sabine..

though when i had him and Bliss out at the weekend, Bliss was showing a lot of interest in him..

so hoping it will be happy days all round and i dont cock it up..lol..

and later on next year i am going to be on the look out for a het pied male..
