my snakes got a mouth infection, its being treated by antibiotcs from the vet. and i have to clean his mouth out with some stuff i got from the vet as well. ive been using cotton buds under instructions from the vet. but was woundering if there were anything else that i could use to clean his mouth out as i find that it gets stuck on her teeth not matter how careful i am about it. ? i have to do this everyday. which i dont mind as i want my snake to get better.
it was due to the person who had it before me i got it to make it better. |

How about a very small toothbrush? - Like one of those electric toothbrush heads (snake size dependant). |

cotton buds are the best thing i can think of personally.......it does need to be something soft that won't damage the inside of their mouth |

Sponge held in tweezers? That shouldnt catch as much and wont leave any fibres in the snakes mouth. |

Unfortunately I think that anything you try is going to be fiddly and will potentially snag on the teeth. You could always ring the vet and just ask to talk to him/her about it? See if they have any other ideas. Best of luck with the snake though, I hope the mouth rot clears up soon.
EDIT: Just thought of something different, but I don't think it's probably the greatest idea I've ever had! Just a suggestion. How about a small paintbrush? Obviously a new, unused one that's been sterilised using boiling water. I don't know if the hairs would pull out on the teeth or if they would just glide around them? |
