How does a snake know what time of year it is, if housed in a communal room?

I was thinking about it earlier. My royal is in the lounge. So he technically gets artificial light from 6pm-11pm. The temperatures will always remain constant throughout the year as he has a bulb in there...so im curious as to how they can tell the difference?

The only possible factor is the day getting darker between 4pm and 6pm....but then it gets light again when i get home and turn the lights on.. PLUS NOTE: he spends 95% of his time under a dark log...so can not see the daylight.

ambient air temps are surely affected mostly by the bulb?? Tough question by the looks of it....maybe one for RF.

If you create an environment where a snake cannot tell what time of year it is then no, it will not know what time of year it is...
