Hello everyone I was just wondering whats best for royal pythons, mice or rats? Thanks for your replies.

hiya ive heard that rats are better for royals maybe just cos thery bigger than mice but im not sure but someone will b along soon to give you more details!!xx

An adult Royal could take a 250g rat (the equivalent of about 8 mice), I know which I'd prefer to try feeding and which will be significantly cheaper!

Just got Rose (are female normal royal python) 2 rats along with two adult mice in are monthly shop. hoping to witch her onto rats but not sure if she is big enough.

what weight is she? and what size of rats did you buy?

Iv never weighed her as i haven't got any scales. Got them out of jollies pet store, the rats are roughly the same size as adult mice. just a tad bigger.

If the rats are no thicker than the thickest part of your snake, she'll be fine.
